What is SEO and how it works
SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”, and it’s the process of improving the visibility of a website in different search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing. This Optimization is achieved naturally, over time, by performing different techniques on Web pages, in order to appear at the top of the search engines results and in that way, increasing traffic on a website.
SEO is the art of preparing a website to make it more understandable and more relevant to search engines.
This “Organic Traffic” comes from keywords that people type on the seach engines and are relevant to the site in question and the activity of the web: providing information, selling a product or a service. The advantages of SEO are fairly straightforward, more traffic, more conversions and more relevant to the objectives of the website. This type of traffic is for free and you don’t have to pay anything to gain more visitors.
When we talk about Optimization, there are different aspects to consider: ON PAGE (optimization that we do in our html page) & OFF PAGE OPTIMIZATION (all the tasks and methods applied outside our site). This is basically in order to ensure that our site is linked from other sites to improve its pagerank and relevancy in front of the search engines eyes.
Currently there are millions of websites on the Internet. Of these, only 10 appear on the first page of search engine results. If your website does not appear among the top places is very difficult for a user to access to your site through a search engine.
The organic results, which are the result of SEO, are displayed for 100% of users, only 3 out of 10 users click on paid results (PPC “Pay per click”), while 7 out 10 clicks on organic results. Most users are left in the first search page, and few are those who pass the fifth result of the first page.
In order to make a website successful you need to arm yourself with knowledge and with the right tools. Every day, more and more sites are increasing their rankings, competition is tough and applying SEO on your site is the way to go if you don’t want your business to be unnoticed.
